This man has been the revelation for England. He is just two years old in international cricket but already has the aura of someone who has shown great temperament and responsibility. Trescothick continues to grow in stature as an international batsman and is seen as favourite to succeed Nasser Hussain as skipper. He is strong of both front and back-foot, an ability to play square of the wicket and comfortable against both pace and spin.

He has played some crucial knocks on big occasion that clearly reflects that he has matured quite rapidly. In the Test series against India in India, his scores of 66 and 46 at Mohali in the first Test and then 99 at Ahmedabad showed that he can handle the spin duo of Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble with some confidence.

His last five innings at home will make some sought of impact in the series. This brave soldier is on some kind of a mission and Sri Lanka and India better watch out

His 137 against Pakistan at Lord's and 121 against India at Eden Gardens will remain in the hearts of all the English cricket fans.
